How Joyful Timber Limited handles the information you give us when you ask for a quote or book work in.

Who we are

Joyful Timber Limited is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at dan@joyfultimber.co.uk or on 07397909408. Our registered office is [registered office address — please supply].

What we collect

When you send the quote form we collect your name, your phone number and email address, your postcode, the service you have selected, whatever you write in the description, and any photographs you attach.

If you ring, email or message us instead, we keep that correspondence and the contact details you gave in it. When we visit a site we may take our own photographs of the trees and the ground around them as part of the record of the job.

Why we use it

To work out a price and send you a quote, to arrange access and a date, to carry out the work safely, to invoice you, and to keep a record of what was done in case there is a query afterwards or an insurance claim.

Where a tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order or sits in a conservation area, we may need to include your address and a description of the work in an application to the local authority. We will tell you before we do that.

Our lawful basis

For quoting and carrying out work, we rely on performance of a contract with you, or on taking steps at your request before entering one. For keeping records of completed jobs and accounts we rely on our legal obligations and our legitimate interest in being able to answer questions about work we have done.

We do not send marketing unless you have asked us to, and if we ever do you can tell us to stop at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing. We share it only where we have to: with our insurers if there is a claim, with our accountant for invoicing and tax, with the local authority where a protected tree needs an application, and with our email and file storage providers, who hold it on our behalf.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are deleted after twelve months. Records of completed jobs, including invoices, are kept for six years to meet HMRC requirements. Site photographs are kept for as long as they are useful as a record of the work, and we will remove any photograph of your property from our gallery on request.

Cookies and this website

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies and does not run third-party analytics. Photographs you attach to the quote form are shown back to you in your own browser before you send them.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. You can also object to how we are using it. Email dan@joyfultimber.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are not happy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page. Last updated 5 September 2026.
